35 Billion

35 Billion

According to projections based of an EPA study we are likely to see 35 Billion pounds of textile waste enter the American waste stream in 2019 alone.  This is mainly because a majority of textiles are not proper recycled at their end of life coincided with the 80 billion new garments that are produced a year.  Let’s reduce this number by buying second hand to build a market for once loved items and donating your clothing instead of throwing it away at the end of it’s life.  Even if it seems fairly far gone most donation operations know how to get those too well loved garments to rag makers and down cyclers that will use the material.
